Perfusion System

GENERAL OVERVIEW

Experimetira Ltd. Has a long term experiences in the fields of equipments for small mammalian's organ perfusion.

  • The basic organ perfusion system is suitable for "in-vitro" investigation of kidney, liver or gut (mesenteric bed) of small animals, such as rat, hamster, guinea pig and rabbit. The system is available for the adjustment of generally used basic methods.
  • For isolated organ preparations variety of small mammalian species are used. Most of the preparations are rat hearts and used in wide range of non-working Langendorff devices, where the coronaries are perfused retrograde at closed aortic valve. Another commonly used model is the working heart preparation, which was introduced by Neely et. al. in 1967.

Generally in Experimetria’s organ perfusion systems constant pressure is kept by hydrostatic pressure of a buffer column, where as constant flow could be maintained by a precision roller pump. The pressure can be adjusted with the help of an inner glass tube, which is movable up and down and therefore more or less solution can be kept in the buffer column. To keep the perfusion solution always on the same level a small reeling pump is included in the set-up.
The two-way Teflon taps designed and develop by Experimetria are another unique features in these set-ups. These small but very handy units help scientists to drive the perfusion solution easily without having a silicon tube maze on the set-ups even in case of three columns are attached to the systems. Because of these taps are made from Teflon no lubricant material is needed therefore contamination can be avoided. The inner side of the tap is designed on such a way that during opening the perfusion solution reaches the maximum flow almost immediately. To avoid cooling down of the perfusion solution the systems are equipped with pre-heater units on various places and the perfusion solution's temperature is measured just in front of the organ. The systems are water-jacketed so they are only complete if a temperature control unit is added to them and the temperature is maintained by a circulating water bath in the system.
All of these systems are built up on a laboratory table in which a stainless steel sink is built in. Systems can be equipped with electronic stimulator, stimulator electrodes, flow meter, flow probe, suitable electronic amplifiers and sensors. Data acquisition software and hardware system is also available as well as low cost and high quality circulating water bath.
